Job: 

Consulting Geologist.

Job description: 

Geological mapping, geohazard evaluation (slope failure, earthquake fault rupture and tsunami risk).

Work background: 

50 years geological experience with GNS Science, consulting firms and working for myself.

Favourite part of job: 

Making new discoveries.

Least favourite part of job: 

Dealing with bureaucracy.

What I am working on now: 

Slope stability risk in Nelson City (landslide risk).

Qualifications: 

PhD, BSc (Hons).

Interests outside work: 

History, particularly researching and writing books on history of mining in New Zealand.
