Ambassador Kara

Kia ora,

Kia ora e te whānau I'm Kara te Kārearea here, I've just flown all the way from my hometown of Palmerston North.

Phew.

Here I am just relaxing in Queenstown - We are going to do the last, hop, skip and a jump to Wanaka where we will be spending the week learning about Exploring the Outdoors. I can't wait to explore this beautiful mountainous area.

Ka mau te wehi! - Awesome!

See you there,

Kara.

Day 1

Wow what an amazing Day! We got to take a tour of Wānaka - my friends needed a helicopter but I didn't. Lucky they had pilot Bill Day to help them. It was great to see so many Kea up on the mountaintops. Stephen Day from Walking Access showed us how to prepare for the great outdoors. So useful to know all that stuff. I also got to hang out on the cycling tracks with environmentalist Chris Arbuckle.

Day 2

It was so great to spend time up the Matukituki Valley checking out the amazing scenery and rugged landscapes. We got to meet Paul, who is a trapper. Predator control is really important so that my friends the Kākā, Kea, South Island Robin, Rock Wren and Long Tailed Bats can survive out here in the Matukutuki Valley.

Day 3

We got to go and check out Roy's Peak and try and be more mindful about being prepared when tramping. Easy for me to say of course - because I can fly easily up to the top of that hill. We also got to take a look around at the lake side and saw some frogs! Ka mau te wehi!
