Job:

I am a research associate in the Hawke's Bay working at Plant & Food Research.

Job description:

I am a plant pathologist which means I work on several plant diseases, including Kauri dieback and apple rots.

Favourite part of job:

My favourite part of the job is learning something new every day about plant diseases. The work can be inside on rainy days and outside on beautiful sunny days.

A (humorous) story about a job that went badly and what you learned:

I needed to mark some apple trees with spray paint for an experiment. I had decided that I needed to paint the whole tree pink so that it would be super obvious for the other people I was working with. As it turns out I only needed to make a small paint mark on the trunk.

Qualifications:

I have a degree in Biology and a Masters' in Plant Biology.

Interests outside work:

I enjoy growing plants and have a collection of fruit trees and carnivorous plants. I have fun playing sports such and squash and Ultimate Frisbee. When I am hungry I love cooking up some delicious meals.
