Work background:

Environmental restoration, parks and recreation planning and management.

Favourite part of job:

Interaction and engagement with people and with the natural world.

Least favourite part of job:

When people disrespect nature and the work we do.

What I am working on now:

Currently looking to employ two ranger staff, set up new trails and plant 10,000 natives this year.

A (humorous) story about a job that went badly and what you learned:

I returned from a conference in Auckland on a Friday evening and attended the opening of a new park on the Saturday morning. I had arranged the opening prior to going and engaged a contractor to help. I got there around noon and after the official speeches were done, the guests and politicians walked over to the hole (pre-dug) for the ceremonial tree, only to find I had forgotten to get a tree.

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Applied Management, strategic management, Horticulture indentures.

Interests outside work:

Motorcycles, movies, music.
