To manage the effects of airport activities on the land, air and water resources of the region through the monitoring and auditing of airport tenants and development activities.

Work background:

Sixteen years environmental monitoring experience in Local Government and six years environmental management experience in private industry.

Favourite part of job:

Dealing with people and being able to help them manage/minimise the impact of their activities on the environment while allowing them to complete their work.

Reviewing a contaminated site investigation report detailing the investigation of a former workshop and service station that is about to be redeveloped into a retail outlet.

A quick story about a job well done:

A project to protect a sacred Māori site from damage. The iwi (owners of the site) were very pleased with the outcome.

A (humorous) story about a job that went badly and what you learned:

I took instruction from a colleague about a route to take along a wet track, the vehicle lost traction and we ended up stuck, many kilometres from the nearest assistance. After several hours we managed to get out of trouble and continued on our way. What did I learn? “Don’t listen to passengers”.
