Meet Mike Parker
Job:
Manager Terminal Facilities
Job description:
I’m responsible for all the systems that make the terminal work such as electricity, air conditioning, the baggage handling system and air bridges to name a few.
Work background:
I started work as an apprentice electrician for Air New Zealand back in 1980. I have had several jobs since including a 3 year contract in Moscow as the Maintenance Officer for the New Zealand Embassy.
Favourite part of job:
No two days are the same and there is always something interesting happening.
Least favourite part of job:
Coming out to work at 1 o’clock in the morning to test the fire system.
What I am working on now:
A new heating system for the international terminal.
Qualifications:
- Registered electrician
- Advanced Trade Certificate in Industrial Electronics.
- NZCE (Electrical)
Interests outside work:
Running, mountain biking.
