Meet Murray Hamilton

Job: 

Police Sergeant.

Job description: 

I am in charge of Road Policing for the Taupō Policing Area, overseeing all aspects of road safety and enforcement. This includes Serious Crash Investigation.

Work background: 

I have been in the Police for 32 years, having specialised in Road Policing and Crash Investigation for about the last 16 years.

Favourite part of job: 

Being able to help people in need and finding new ways to make our roads safer.

Least favourite part of job: 

Attending serious crashes.

A quick story about a job well done: 

I worked on “S.W.A.T 2010” project, which looked at State Highway One through South Waikato and Taupō Districts. This project looked at all aspects of road safety and the end result was that deaths on our roads were significantly reduced.

Qualifications: 

Diploma of Policing, Qualified as a Level 4 Serious Crash Investigator.

Interests outside work: 

Whānau, cooking (and eating), learning Te Reo.
