Meet Nicola Chisnall

Job:

Team Leader Service Planning.

Job description:

My team and I;

  • facilitate the development of the long term programme for our five client councils
  • report on the performance of the services
  • work to improve the way we deliver our services
  • document the story of why we need to invest
Work background:

My first “real” job after university was selling water treatment chemicals to water treatment plants in the lower North Island. After that I worked at various Council’s in the North Island and gained experience in asset management (16yrs). My work has predominately been in the wastewater and stormwater area.

Favourite part of job:

Working across the business with all the great people involved in providing the three waters service.

Least favourite part of job:

Having to say no to people.

What I am working on now:

Preparing the forward works plan and service plan document to provide to the councils to include in their long-term plan document.

A quick story about a job well done:

Just recently we told a story about the key issues for the Porirua City Council area (in terms of the three waters) to the Councilors. We were able to convey a less than pleasant story in the right way so they understood and were grateful for what we told them.

Qualifications:
  • Chartered Professional Engineer
  • Bachelor of Technology (Environmental Engineering)
Interests outside work:

Hockey, doing things with my family.
