Responsible for the delivery of the mechanical and electrical systems for the tunnel including fire life safety, monitoring and control.

Work background:

20 years’ experience in constructing and operating tunnel M&E systems.

Favourite part of job:

Livening equipment, which means making the equipment work and be fully operational.

Least favourite part of job:

Writing reports.

What I am working on now:

Livening equipment in the tunnel. Ensuring all systems work as specified.

A quick story about a job well done:

Calle 30 in 2007. It was a 40 km tunnel network. We were opening sections on a weekly basis for two months. I have never worked that hard before, but the work was really satisfying.

A (humorous) story about a job that went badly and what you learned:

Somport in 2003. The tunnel had three different power supplies, coming from two different countries. It was considered impossible to lose power. One week after opening we lost power and had to close. I learnt that you can never take anything for granted.
