Share a photo from your living world

Common groundsel

We have two biodiversity kits (details below) to give away to students or their learning communities!

The prizes have been kindly donated by Manaaki Whenua LandCare Research.

What:

Look closer at living things in your backyard. Use the iNaturalistNZ app to photograph your choice of plant or critter. Use iNaturalistNZ to classify your observation before you save and upload it, then share it with LEARNZ.

How:

  • Download and install the iNaturalistNZ app from Google Play or the Apple Store. If you are under 13 years of age, follow the instructions at iNaturalist Minor Account Signup or consider using Seek from iNaturalist, instead.
  • Create an account using an email address, then log in (not needed for Seek).
  • Use the app to create an observation by taking a photo of something living (not a pet or a human) in your backyard or neighbourhood or region.
  • Email the link for your observation to share@learnz.org.nz. (Note: Seek users need to have caregiver permission or be at least 13 years old to post observations through iNaturalistNZ, which creates a link).

Entries must be in by Friday 24 November, 5pm.

*By sharing, you grant LEARNZ permission to use your digital file(s) in connection with this LEARNZ online field trip and for future promotion purposes in LEARNZ, and waive any claims to royalty, right, or remuneration for such use.
