Meet Julie Webb-Brownlee

Job:

Farmer, Owner/Operator.

Job description:

I do all sorts, from shepherding, tractor work, milking, fencing, dog training, shearing and all the fun stuff in between.

Work background:

I grew up on a sheep and beef farm, and started a sheep milking job a few years ago straight from school.

Favourite part of job:

Being with the sheep and dogs everyday.

Least favourite part of job:

Winter time! I hate the cold.

What I am working on now:

Milking sheep and growing our flock and breeding program.

A (humorous) story about a job that went badly and what you learned:

I took 137 Heifers up the road to cross to another farm only to realize the neighbours dog was out and popped out in the corner and scared them all. They took off like a stampede down the road. I managed to catch and stop them all and collect them back to a safe paddock. I learned for next time to get extra help and make sure neighbours dogs aren’t unexpectedly out. A story I can now laugh about.

Qualifications:

Level 1 – 4 in all sheep and beef training through Primary-ITO, level 5 in production management, first aid, and ecolab chemicals.

Interests outside work:

Dog Training/trialling, dancing, tramping, and sports (netball).
