About this trip
Seaweed aquaculture is the world's fastest-growing primary industry!
Did you know that over three billion people depend on marine and coastal biodiversity for their livelihoods? Globally, the market value of marine and coastal resources and industries is estimated at $3 trillion per year or about 5 per cent of global GDP.
During Seaweek 2021 (6-14 March) you will travel online to Kaikoura and Nelson with LEARNZ and Sustainable Seas Challenge to discover:
- why seaweed is a wonder crop of the future
- how local communities could benefit environmentally, socially, culturally and economically from a thriving seaweed sector
- how research, science and innovation are helping develop seaweed aquaculture in Aotearoa–New Zealand.
Find out how AgriSea–a blue economy success story is one initiative turning seaweed into an ocean of opportunity.
