Look for trains.

Win one of two return trips on the TranzAlpine with LEARNZ!

Waka Kotahi and KiwiRail have four seats on the TranzAlpine for two New Zealand ākonga to give away! These will go to two students from Years 5–8, with a guardian each. Winners will travel from Christchurch to Greymouth and return.

So, you’ll get to experience the TranzAlpine: STEM-learning journey with a view for real!

Inside TranzAlpine.

Participate

1. Design a digital poster that raises awareness about how to keep safe around tracks and trains.*

2. Ask your parent or guardian to fill in the CONSENT TO ENTER form. This MUST be signed and sent in with your entry to be in to win.

If there are railway tracks near your home, school, or in your community, why not create a positive message that asks people to stay safe around these? Your entry should show other young people how they can avoid danger on and around train tracks. Then your message could be shared locally, at your school, and via LEARNZ and Waka Kotahi (NZTA).

We will be looking for entries that effectively convey important rail safety messages. These resources from TrackSAFE and this video will help you stay safe around the rail network and give you some great ideas for your project.

*Please keep away from train tracks at all times - even when you are making your entry. You MUST be a minimum of five metres either side of the tracks. It’s illegal and highly unsafe to be on railway tracks. We want you to stay safe! Think about how you could use Creative Commons images in your entry instead.
